European Applications

Nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland can live in the United Kingdom (UK), temporarily or permanently, as workers, jobseekers, self‐employed persons, students, visitors or if they have independent means

EEA and Swiss nationals have the right to be joined in the UK by their families even if their families are not EEA nationals. They and their families are entitled to residence permits initially for a fixed period then permanent residency. Family members of EEA and Swiss nationals may retain the right to live in the UK if their EEA or Swiss family member dies or if the relationship breaks down.

Children who are EEA nationals may have the right to be joined in the UK by their parent(s) who will be granted residence permits to enter or remain in the UK.

EEA and Swiss nationals who have a right to reside in the UK can only be deported or removed from the United Kingdom in exceptional circumstances.

If you are an EEA or Swiss national or are family or parent(s) of an EEA or Swiss national the Migrant Law Partnership can assist you with obtaining a residence permit to enter or remain in the United Kingdom.
